• The tungsten carbide “TC” bits are produced with inserts of TC tungsten carbide soldered to steel body, the inserts are prisms octagonally shaped with dimensions of 4.0 mm, 5.0 mm, 6.2 mm, 7.5 mm and 10 mm. According to bit thickness and profile, the proper insert dimension is selected to achieve the best overlap on cutting face of the bit.
• The inserts can be re-sharpened depending of the bit wear.
• Design of the bit is with saw tooth profile to achieve high penetration rates.
• The tungsten carbide bits drill in soft formations such as : clay, sand, soft slate, and sandstone.
• The drilling rotational speeds are very low comparing with the speeds used in diamond bits. Drilling with saw tooth profile, we recommend bit periferical speeds from 0.3 to 1.0 meters per second.
• Weight on the bit has to be also low, the minimum to maintain bit cutting with an acceptable penetration rate.
